Returning to the South of France is always a highlight for the team, combining high-performance marine projects with some of the most prestigious shipyards in Europe.
This latest visit took us to MB92 La Ciotat Shipyard, where our team carried out specialist work on a striking racing yacht, focusing on both performance and long-term protection.
Precision Work Below the Waterline
The scope of the project centred around key performance areas of the vessel, including the keel, bulb and rudders, components that play a critical role in both speed and efficiency through the water.
Working in these areas requires a clear understanding of how surface condition directly impact performance. Any contamination, drag or inefficiency at this level can have a measurable effect.
We also offer protection in the form of Paint Protection Film, a popular choice for parts below the water line and above, protecting against UV, Heat and light physical damage. Retaining the same self-healing properties against scratches as it’s automotive partner.
Restoring the Finish
Visually, the yacht featured distinctive pink accents that had lost some of their original impact over time.
Through careful machine polishing, the team was able to restore clarity and vibrancy to these areas, bringing the finish back to life while maintaining the integrity of the surface. The result is a sharper, more defined aesthetic that matches the yacht’s performance-driven design.

Advanced Marine Protection
Following refinement, the treated areas were protected using XPEL Fusion Marine V2.
Designed specifically for marine environments, the coating provides a durable barrier against salt, contamination and organic build-up, helping to maintain both appearance and performance in the water over time.
Proven Performance Over Time
An important part of this visit wasn’t just applying protection, but reviewing work we had completed 6 weeks ago.
We carried out an inspection of previously coated areas, gathering real-world feedback on how the coating had performed. The feedback from the crew was exactly what you’d want to see:
- Noticeably easier wash-down
- Strong water beading behaviour
- Reduced levels of contamination bonding to the hull
Beyond aesthetics, this translates directly into improved efficiency, less drag, less maintenance, and more consistent performance in the water.

Expanding Beyond Automotive
Projects like this highlight the crossover between automotive and marine protection at the highest level.
While the environments differ, the principles remain the same: surface refinement, precision application, and long-term protection using proven materials and techniques.
Working in locations such as La Ciotat not only allows us to support clients internationally but also to apply our standards across a wider range of high-value assets.
A Broader Approach to Protection
Whether on the road or in the water, the focus remains unchanged, delivering protection that enhances both appearance and performance.
If you’re considering marine protection or have a project based in the UK or abroad, our team is always available to discuss the right approach.
